It doesn't ask our D-line to shoot a single gap, but that's not what Williams did there.

The idea that our D-Lineman are supposed to just stand there is a myth and frankly doesn't make sense. Yes, they're supposed to try to win at the point of attack, just not by trying to shoot a gap (like you would a 1-gap system).

Williams attacked Asomoah and simply defeated him. He didn't shoot the gap and break into the backfied - he simply physically overpowered him. Yes, our D-Lineman are supposed to be doing that.

They just don't because they aren't very good.
