Orton knew all along what a potential trainwreck this team was going to become. He could have started on this team, easily even, but he knew what was up with Pioli's crush on Cassel.
I guess if you're going to be a backup, backup a guy that is good. Doesn't hurt to get paid four or five mil to ride the bench, either. Probably more than he was offered to come in and "compete" with Cassel for the starting gig here.
