It seems like the GOP ought to admit that the B*sh tax cuts were designed that way to make a poison pill that Democrats could not let them expire without impacting households who earn less than $50,000 per year.
It is not right for GOP to complain about the percentage of people who pay little or no federal income tax because they are the ones who knocked a lot of people off of the federal tax rolls.
It's right for those of us who complained about that aspect of both the Bush tax cuts and Reagan's tax cuts of the 80s.
You're right that those two rounds of cuts are what created such a large class of non-income-tax-payers.
You're not right to blame it all on the GOP, of course, because that was the price the GOP had to pay to get enough democrat support to pass those cuts in the first place. It was the democrats who wanted fewer people paying taxes, not the GOP.
