How can you someone who only watches Fox news be well informed? Does anyone really think they are fair and balanced?
I think this is the core question that some here haven't truly responded to. The answer is that someone can't. The same would go for any source of news.

What I think is both baffling and frightening is the number of folks out there who will not only dismiss other news sources, but also refuse to even watch them. Statements like "I'd never watch/listen to/read [Rachel Maddow/Bill O'Riley/The Daily Show/Lawrence O'Donnell/NPR/Rush Limbaugh/Michael Savage/the New York Times/The Wall Street Journal] because they're [communists/fascists]," reveal short sidedness and insecurity in your beliefs. When you aggregate coverage and discussion you might find that you have an opinion that lies on either side. Here's a decent example, I think..

When the UN was in town some media outlets were going berserk over the fact that Obama didn't meet with any foreign leaders and went on the View instead. Putting aside choosing to be on the View for a moment and only focusing on the decision not to meet with other leaders, this was reported by some as something that would offend other countries and leaders. If you watched a single news source you might have taken this at face value. If you watched the Daily Show after Sean Hannity you would have seen the king of Jordan who was asked about what the impact was. He said pretty clearly that it really wasn't a big deal to anyone and that the other leaders weren't even talking about it.

People with this sort of world view are more than willfully ignorant. They are frighteningly ignorant. They clearly choose to follow their selected flavor of news...even spouting off their unchallenged opinions on the internet only to respond to opposing opinion with such well thought out and thought provoking responses like "fail" or quoting the message and using the passive aggressive gif.

If you choose to disagree on political issues that's fine. But don't expect your opinion to carry much weight if you aren't confident enough in your beliefs or mature as an adult and citizen to listen to and consider other viewpoints.
