My take is that for fans and CP members, the Pioli hate is mostly a function of Cassel disappointment and the (related) losses.
But none of that is the case for Whitlock. He has an axe to grind.
Right now, those two intersts are aligned. So they are living in harmony.
I've been (and usually am) rather slow to jump off a coaching bandwagon. I prefer to give players, coaches and GM's a long window to prove that they failed.
Cassel's reached his this season.
Pioli has very nearly reached his, and will if, in the end, Romeo Crennel doesn't right the ship. If I were the owner, I don't think I would want Pioli hiring a 3rd head coach.
That said, I think Pioli can recover from all of this and all it takes is winning.
If Clark Hunt given Pioli a 3rd shot or if Romeo turns things around this season, I still suspect Pioli can make it all work.
And if that happens, fans will go back to loving the patriot way. Well, pretty much all fans except Whitlock. He's a special case, IMO.
