Sensing a market for this nostalgia, NFL Films created a documentary on the game, following four current Tecmo players to a yearly tournament in Wisconsin and talking to NFL players who remember growing up with the game.
One of the most dominant players in Tecmo Super Bowl, former Kansas City running back Christian Okoye, had no idea of his prior virtual dominance until filmmakers approached him. In addition to getting the "Nigerian Nightmare" to play the game as himself for the first time, they showed him a YouTube clip of his persona breaking 86 tackles on one play and captured it on film.
