That's a fair point, and one I agree with. But I think my point still stands. In that you can't just build 5/10/15 new ships and change things. You have your forward force projection, which operates in task forces, and your strategic assets that do and do not.
So if the argument is that we need another aircraft carrier group, or another battle group, that's fine. But that's a significant investment, and one that takes decades to undertake. And at some point it becomes a question of what are we trying to accomplish that we can't already? Are we really stretched that thin?
And long-term, the major powers are going to improve their technology to the point that these massive deployments matter less and less. You can have the best missile defense in the world, and still not stop a complete barrage if they know where you are and can track you.
well the trick has been since the Manhattan project to make sure we are light years ahead of the rest of the world in military technology. Kinda why our grandparents shivered when they first heard the beeps coming from Sputnik.
With out better Tech you are right, carriers at the bottom of the sea do us no good
