I'm one of the folks who could help the GOP. But they think the Religio's/abortion/"Christians are being prosecuted/Obama is the devil/They want to take my guns away/ The attack on Christmas"/ are where it's at. That's cool.
I'm not one to believe that they can't be remade however. In 04, the Dem party was pronounced dead and 4 years later, were thriving. The same can happen to the GOP. They just have to stop courting the far right.
It's weird that so many people reject the GOP because it doesn't support their entire set of beliefs. Somehow the democrats can hold together a coalition that includes union members who are racist, homophobic and sexist, homophobic and racist blacks, wealthy homosexuals, and class-envious social conservatives, but the GOP can't maintain a coalition between the economically libertarian religious right and the socially libertarian fiscally conservatives.
