Science does not have to contradict faith, only a literal interpretation of the bible, which is like a storybook for children in explaining creation. After all the initial readers of the word were more than 1500 years from discovering that the Earth was not flat, the Earth was not the center of the universe, and there's this thing called gravity.
I don't have to believe a literal interpretation of the bible to have faith in God. What's wrong with saying God created everything and he did it in a manner consistent with how science explains it? What's wrong with pointing out that God explained it all in parables full of symbolism?
The easiest way to prove the literal bible wrong is if the universe was created just 10,000 years ago then we wouldn't be able to see stars that are more than 10,000 light years away as their light would not have reached us yet. I had a creationist try to explain that and my head was about ready to explode.
