I'm curious about this, and whether it's a cohort thing (some people watch talk shows) or an age thing (people watch talk shows at some age band and then fade out).

When I was in college I was a big fan of David Letterman, but it faded out by the time I was in my late 20s and I've never watched again. I've seen some little snippets of Letterman and Conan and Leno in the years since, and find them to be the most boring and inane things on television after reality TV and the shopping channels.

So was it that Letterman was really that good in the 80s and now everyone stinks? Or is it something that is intriguing for the first cycle and then at some point you hear all of the celebrity chatting and skits you need, and move on? Or am I not a typical case?
