This is public information.
They kept it "secret" because they were hunting the perpetrators down and didn't want them to know they were in the cross-hairs of the USA.
I don't believe that for a second. If they wanted to keep sources and methods wrapped up, they shouldn't have sent the UN ambassador out there at all.
They should have said NOTHING if that was the case.
