If you're using "based on deception" to mean "began with deception" then I'd have to agree.
If you're using "based on deception" to mean "the majority of the relationship is grounded in deception" then I'd disagree. The majority of their presumably happily-married time together is based on so many other factors: their compatibility, their romantic moments, their legitimate enjoyment of each other, etc.
I think it's more accurate to state "began and continued with deception."
I think the young people enjoy it when I "get down," verbally, don't you?
