The odds-on favorite to own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs will enter the upcoming offseason with a number of holes, including that of the quarterback position. Unfortunately, this year could provide the worst crop of quarterbacks in 5+ years, making it awfully difficult to select one with the first pick in the draft. Instead, the best move for Kansas City to make would be to draft an impact playmaker on offense or defense with the first pick before trading back up into the first round or staying at the top of the second round and landing their quarterback (Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Geno Smith, etc.) there. Under this scenario, the best player for the Chiefs to draft is Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. When it is extremely difficult to be considered for the Heisman Trophy as a linebacker, Te'o is considered one of two legitimate finalists for the trophy. With 427 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, and seven interceptions over the course of his four-year career, Te'o is as close to a can't-miss prospect as there is going to be in 2013 and would pair very favorably in the Chiefs' current 3-4 scheme with Derrick Johnson. If the team loses Jovan Belcher to free agency this offseason, the pick would become an even easier one to make. With Tamba Hali and Justin Houston outside, there isn't an immediate need for a player like Jarvis Jones.
