Definitely.
As guitar players (I've play guitar & drums for 10+ years) you know how it goes. First one you own, you just want something that gets the job done. Learn your basics and see if it's for you. It doesn't have to be a Gibson Les Paul, DW Kit, or a Roland V-Pad set right off the bat.
I own the Alesis for almost 3+ years now. It's done it's job quite well for me since I'm in an apartment. I personally recommend that one even though it's a little more money.
Not to mention, you can always upgrade the "brain" if you want more realistic sounds, add more pads to expand on the kit and the only time to replace the set itself - is if you want the more acoustic feeling pads.
