I used my SKS for hunting because I get consistent accuracy out of it, it's cheap to buy and shoot, I'm not afraid of scratching it up dragging it through the south east Kansas hedge row country, and could drop it in the mud jumping a ditch chamber a round and have confidence it would accurately fire. Plus since a lot of the recoil is taken up by the semi-automatic action after the first shot I can get right back on target for another if needed.
I know a lot of coyote hunters that use AR's for similar reasons, accept the whole dropping in the mud thing, AR's don't get along with dirt at all.
Ok.

I know many who use them for similar purposes.

I just don't see a use for AR's, or for that matter, semi automatic weapons in the hands of the general public, without a fairly rigorous training and background information.

I'm all for keeping the rights this country were built on, as I'm sure you are. And if I'm serious about keeping or obtaining these weapons, these things shouldn't be a problem.
