Was what I wrote original? Sure. It's a fairly simple concept if you want to remove responsibility from those who are responsible and blame anything for their actions but them.
It is a fitting analogy, though. A hundred years ago, a bunch of nanny state dildos got together and decided that we'd all be better off without booze. They conned enough fools into joining their cause that the measure was passed (I'd be willing to bet they used isolated incidents of drunken excess to scare the crap out of people, too). The result? The biggest spike in crime this nation has ever seen, and people got their booze anyway. The government didn't seem to mind, either, since it gave them an excuse to broadly expand police powers. Eventually it was overturned, and life went back to normal, only with bigger crime and bigger government. And the prohibition of drugs is a continuation of this rousing, complete, utterly stupid ****ing fail thinking. Who benefits from this? The government and criminals.
We survived prohibition, although it took a heavy toll. The current war on drugs is even worse, but we're hanging in there. But if the anti-gun lunatics have their way, there won't be any coming back from that.
