I agree that these changes need to be LOCAL.. I am fine with state but would prefer it go even further down to more local levels.

I am not sure we need additional dedicated security personnel. If I ran a school district, I would take the money that would be spent there and instead create an Armed Emergency Responder (patent pending) training program. Let school staff and even parents or whoever go through a training program that is equivalent to what police officers go through in regard to firearms, add in some medical and pysch training as well and then require yearly continuing ed to maintain certification. With that cert. you would be allowed to carry on school grounds.

Provides trained armed security(assuming people actually sign up for it) and also would give you more people trained in first aid and most importantly psychological issues ranging from early warning sign detection to dealing with issues after the fact.
