I have no hard on for banning high capacity magazines. No biggie to me.
The NRA and 2nd amendment supports fight isn't with me. If I was wanting to reach the liberals I would try to convince them from a constitutional perspective not that guns are safe.
The Va Tech shooter shot himself when the cops got there. (after Columbine, police began to aggressively go after active shooters, they don't stop and wait patiently behind cover for a golden moment, they enter the building, pursue the shooter, and try to shoot him or die trying without regard for victims or their own safety)
The Ft Hood shooter was felled in a firefight. Again, it wasn't this fantasy of guys hiding patiently behind cover until he ran out and had to reload, then springing forth, they both had loaded weapons and began trading lead.
Given how incredibly small the number of deaths from mass shooters are, and how rarely even in mass shootings the magazine size made a difference (Cho had no problem at all switching magazines, he carried 19 of them loaded and ready to plug in into Va Tech), a magazine size restriction is not justified, at all.
