Hes very image conscious and the rumor is thats why he turned down the role. Anyhow, I hear Foxx is very good, maybe he will get a career bump from it. He was sorta hot a few years ago, then sort of faded after his run at an Oscar with Ray.

From what I have read/heard, Smith didn't turn down the role, QT decided he wasn't right for it.
