I once thought as you do. The government would totally **** this up. My evidence to support this theory is EVERYTHING THE GOVERNMENT CURRENTLY TOUCHES.
And personally, I have no problem with the idea of high speed trains. I ride a train to work five days a week, and enjoy it because it enables me to live 35 miles from Chicago instead of in Chicago. But considering the mess we're in right now, this is all sky pie.
