If there really is "a better existence for eternity", then why the **** can't you, me, Fish, Bump, or any other of the billions of people on this planet have that right now, this very second? I have to earn it, you might say? Well, then I would say that God sounds like a masochistic prick, not to mention not all that omniscient, considering how he "made me" and all.
It's the hook of any religion to promise those with nothing, or those that feel like they are or have nothing, that they can have it all, if you just follow our rules. And if you don't follw the rules, you will suffer for all eternity.
Explain to me how that isn't manipulative.
