I do remember the pastor asking for volunteers to come up to the front and "feel Jesus walk into their hearts!!!". These people volunteered me to go up since I was new to their services, so I went. The guy puts both his hands on my shoulders and asks if I "....feel the love of Jesus entering my heart as I stood there". I looked around, felt nothing, and told him no. He gets visibly flustered, gets a weird look on his face, grabs both shoulders and starts to shake me hard enough to whip my head back and forth, yelling "DON'T YOU FEEL THE LOVE OF JESUS IN YOUR HEART???!!!" At that point, of course I say "Yes! Yes!" He stops, looks at me and smiles, and says "I knew you would", and sends me back to my seat. Even at that age, when I didn't know shit about ****, I openly wondered why he was trying to force me to "believe" in what he was saying. Obviously, that incident formed my opinions and stuck with me through my life.
I guess I wouldn't be completely shocked to find a God or some other such type of being/existence of one type or another some day. If I do happen to find it, I am 99.999999% sure that it won't be like anything anyone has imagined.
The churches are/have been whorehouses since long before You and I were born, I warn people to avoid churches/organized religion.
