Seems like they're saying a lot of that is aggressive leasing rates. Which, to me, is a form of advertising; they want the product visible and on the road. It doesn't necessarily mean people are interested in buying it retail.
As a gearhead that isn't married to American V8's (they're awesome but not the only way to go fast), the Volt is new and interesting tech. I would never buy one due to my overwhelming need to have something that is fun to drive but the more this technology advances, improves, and is introduced to more people the better off I am.
The Fisker Karma is more up my alley (can't afford one and they still like to commit suicide through self immolation). I like the direction auto makers are headed for the most part.
