So I did finally get one. It is awesome. I expected to love not buying gas, didn't expect to love driving it. It handles very well. Really didn't expect it to rock in snow. I used the gas tank to road trip to KC and then Texas. Left KC the morning the snow hit just before Christmas. Cars and trucks of all types were sliding and stuck on ward parkway and johnson drive by Pembroke Hill and the Carriage Club. Huge backup, people pushing cars to the side to wait for tow help. Only 2 trucks with 4wd and my volt drove up it with no problem. There was a subaru with shitty tires that should have gotten through too, but everyone on the hill was impressed.
My only issue is with the back seats. They are buckets too which is strange, but I'm getting used to it. I averaged 40mpg, while in 70mph states, and 35mpg in Texas with 75 and 80mph. Plus at home, I never use gas at all, charge at night for about 30 cents to go 40 miles. I get to drive in the carpool lane too. Overall, very happy with it, and the aggressive lease rates aren't offered in CA since they are so popular here. I still leased since it is new tech, but I could see buying the next round. I am expectinh more options for buyers by the time my lease is up.
My boss has the new Tesla sedan, and it is beautiful. Too pricey at 60k, but looks great for a CEO.
