The scout's job is to follow orders. The coach and GM dictate the scheme, and that creates the playbook that scouts have to follow. Their job is to go to games and evaluate talent BASED ON THE PLAYBOOK. They are told exactly what players they are supposed to find. From there, their evaluations trickle to the college scouting director, whose job is to listen to a gazillion scouting reports and sum up the bullet points concisely to the head personnel guy.
Don't blame the guys whose job is to pull together the reports. Blame the multiple levels of leaders above the scouts that are giving them crappy playbooks to follow and that don't do a good job of slotting for draft value. It's not the scout's job to fight with *****. That was Emery's job.
Why are scouts fighing with anyone? They are information feeders. They write their reports based on their evaluations.
