People often believe want they want to.
He's probably a pretty good kid, a very good player, and he had a sensational personal story. Because of the first two qualities, ND was more than ready to believe the third.
And they got burned. Badly.
In turn, I'd remove every shred of evidence that this fraud ever played at ND.
