The coroner was very adamant that all the injuries he saw were due to a rifle and Iíd assume he can figure out the difference between a .223 rifle wound and a .40 Smith handgun wound.
That alone struck me as odd. Not all but the majority of 5.56/.223 ammo used for target shooting by the nonhunting public is of the full metal jacketed variety that would punch right through an animate object at close range and not do as much damage as a hollowpoint round from a centerfire handgun thats designed to expand and do damage at close range.
