He hates Ventura's size. I'm still not sure what differences the scouting pubs are seeing between Ventura (5-11/165) and Carlos Martinez (6/165) if the measureables are true. They seem like very similar guys to me... Martinez has a little more advanced pitchability/composure but Ventura has better swing-and-miss ability.
As for pitching prospects...
Zimmer + Ventura + Lamb are a pretty good set at the AA level or higher. TINSTAAPP, but having three guys there that still have No. 2 upside isn't a bad thing at all. I am really excited/hopeful for what Lamb can do when he comes back. He was my favorite of the "Big 4" back in 2011 because of his advanced feel and bulldog mentality (the anti-Luke Hochevar). I am really hopeful he has a strong bounceback year (And am glad they have the rotation depth to take a cautious approach with him).
I like the idea of sticking Lamb and Zimmer at NWA to start the year and letting them challenge each other.
There are a lot of lower level SP guys who could take a big jump this year.
Bryan Brickhouse (could make a big leap or flame out... size/velo are there).
