If a private company wants to continue to employ buggy whip makers, I'm not going to complain as much because that's up to the owners of that company. When it happens in government, it becomes my (and every other citizen's) business.
The post office is not obsolete. People still use it. They do not use taxpayer dollars. If you don't want to give the post office money, don't use them. The only way they get your money is when you pay for their services.
