Don't buy an LED-LCD TV unless it has local dimming and full array backlighting. Otherwise, your PQ will be inconsistent.
Honestly, your TV ****ed you by dying the week after the SB. There are often great TV deals the week of the SB. You can use slickdeals, but it's incredibly random. I'd recommend searching local clearance at BestBuys online; it's a new feature and pretty nice, as it allows you to pluck some underpriced diamonds out there.
If you go plasma, Panasonic is the best, but there have been durability issues with some sets over the years, especially WRT black level consistency.
