Trail cameras, like disposable cameras, use what's called a full-flash discharge. A light that snaps bright and at full power at first in a sudden burst, and then gradually fades out. The rain drops look like they're traveling upwards because the flash, which bursts it's full power in a split-second, catches the drop and freezes it in place, but the tail comes from the fade out of the flash...

Edit: and don't worry about being skeptical. I'm not saying this is proof positive that these are ghosts. I'm open to an explanation.
