Well, considering what we were trotting out at right tackle since Tait left, it wasn't much of a reach to project a guy at that spot earlier rather than later in the draft. You can't say that the position didn't need to be addressed, and, in fact, it was completely ignored by both Peterson and Peeholi until it got to joke level and finally Winston was signed. At this point it would be assinine for the Chiefs to look at anyone at an offensive line position until the last two rounds or free agency.
But, with Winston and Albert along with Hudson, Asasmoah and Allen/Stephenson, that's a pretty solid, young offensive line that already has time together and will only get better.
Now, you can pick up guys in the later rounds/free agency to fill in/depth like successful teams do and go after the top players/athletes versus draft strictly on a need basis. And, as I stated, oddly enough, the Chiefs are in a position to get the best player in this draft which also happens to be at the last piece of the puzzle for the Chiefs to begin to have success in the NFL.
I've always said, there are three things that give you a chance to win on Sunday:
1. A real QB
2. Protect that real QB
3. Pressure the other QB
We've got 2 and 3. We now have the opportunity to get the most important part of it.
