I don't think that an assault weapon's bill will pass, and don't think that even worst case scenario that anyone is "coming for my guns." But a couple of things:
1. The last AWB grandfathered weapons and did not ban their transfer.
2. Every new form of AWB I have seen proposed at the federal and state level does not grandfather weapons in for transfer. That means that even if you can keep the firearm, when you die, it is forfeit.
3. The AWB's that have been proposed this time around are so restrictive that it is virtually impossible to comply with them by modifying the weapon. You are stuck.
4. Whether my property is taken from me by a thug knocking on the door, or by just waiting for me to die is close to irrelevant. The result is the same, my valuable property is stripped of its value arbitrarily. $1200.00 vaporized.
