I still have a mid-90s Mac that I occasionally boot up to load the floppies of "Marathon". 20 years later and with about as much computing power and memory as a pocket calculator, that game still has atmosphere, especially late at night in the dark with stereo headphones on.
This is a PC-emulator version, which apparently starts you off in a rock-walled area. This makes absolutely no sense in terms of the game's narrative; it's a nod to their first game, before "Marathon", called "Pathways Into Darkness" (a Mac game where you roamed a temple with a knife IIRC).
