Well, unfortunately, summer blends are required by the government and the refineries have to take production offline to get ready to switch over to it. That isn't the fault of the energy companies. And, yes, it coincides with our busiest driving periods (hence demand increasing).

And again, I don't remember the prices spiking so sharply in the past as they have now just to get the refineries ready to pump out the summer crude blends.
