I don't hate the idea of adding Alex Smith as a veteran presence and perhaps temp starter while a young guy develops but I'd hate it if we give up anything of real worth for him.
If the deal is truly done already then San Fran got what they wanted. That's disconcerting for a guy who might have been cut in the end.
