Name any 2nd round pick in the NFL (not named Colin Kaepernick) off the top of your head that has had more value than Tony Gonzalez?
we as Chiefs fans, for the majority, LIKED this trade, too.
In short, this board overvalues (and dramatically) later round picks. They are, like I said previously, MOSTLY good for the fact they give us 4 years of player control for players that cost NOTHING against the cap. Which is why a guy like Samie Parker will play for us for four years and then have no offers once his contract expires. They have value until their rookie contracts expire because they fill roster spots 30-52 which need to account for less than 15% of the total cap.
The value of those picks aren't the 1%'s like Jared Allen...

Were you okay giving up a 2nd for Surtain and Victor Bailey? How about a 2nd and a 4th for John Welbourn? These kind of trades seem to fail more often than not probably because there is usually a reason the other team wants to get rid of that player.
The Gonzo trade would have been fine if Scott hadn't wasted it.
