Except this team is considerably better all the way around than that one, especially the pitching staff.
Bullpen is not close. This unit is miles better.
Starting rotation is also an ugly content:
James Shields vs. Paul Byrd (traded at mid-season, advantage 2013)
Jeremy Guthrie vs. Jeff Suppan (this actually is not a terrible comparison)
Ervin Santana vs. Chad Durbin (big advantage 2013)
Wade Davis vs. Dan Reichert (big advantage 2013)
Luke Hochevar/Bruce Chen vs. Kris Wilson (shockingly, big advantage 2013, if they really hook Hochevar quickly if he struggles)
Offense in 2001 had more star power but less upside, and one of its big cogs was traded at midseason (Jermaine Dye).
