Some people see the Anderson love as a nostalgia trip for the bygone glory days of the Richardson era in a league that will no longer allow success at that style of play.

Others (I tend to be one of these) think that it's just about catching lightning in a bottle. As you all have pointed out, it doesn't always work. But.. guess what? No system ALWAYS works. Look at the completely screwy losses handed out to high ranked teams by low ranked opponents repeatedly this season. I think it's possible to make it work, as we've seen in the past, but I'm not sure that Anderson can do it. We'll see.
It wasn't about you guys catching lightning in a bottle. You had Todd Day, Oliver Miller, Corliss Williamson, Lee Mayberry, and Scotty Thurman on those early 90s teams. That's a shitload of NBA-caliber talent, and it's not surprising that when that well dried up, so did Richardson's success.

It also doesn't help that his style is anachronistic and he has no concept of how to design an offense.

When Anderson left Denmon posted a tweet that said, "No more 40 minutes of bad knees." Elite players don't want to play in a system where they run so much and get far fewer minutes than in comparable programs. It's a system for junkyard dogs, and although it can work under the most perfect of circumstances, it's akin to hoping for a game manager QB and an '85 Bears-quality defense.
