I'm all for going after black market gun dealers. It would seem that essentially they are a huge reason why guns and gun owners are so criticized these days.
Therein does lie a major rub. It has been studied with federal money in the past, and very well may be again with Obama's executive order, the "health" aspect of gun violence. It isn't that far fetched that someone with an agenda could have report made saying that people who own guns, or desire to own guns, suffer from mental sickness. Only those who are ill would want to own one, and since mentally ill people aren't supposed to own them, well there is no reason for them to be made available to the public.
The other major rub is that it is giving in on one of our Constitutional rights. As is the case with every subject, you give the government an inch they are going to want and attempt to take the whole damned mile.
