No. So they covered it. Great. Now, go search this story on google news and see which are going with the "he implied it and it's disgraceful" garbage vs sites that are reporting sans spin or are covering other sites bitching.
WASHINGTON D.C. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- This morning, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid opened the senate floor with condolences to the families who lost loved ones, but came under fire for the remarks he said following that.
After expressing his condolences for the families, Reid said "It's very important we continue training our military, but one of the things in sequester is the cutback in training and maintenance...We have to be very vigilant. This sequester should go away. We've cut already huge amounts of money and deficit reductions. It's just not appropriate, Mr. President, that our military can't train and do the maintenance necessary."
After his speech, many people took to Twitter to voice their displeasure over Reid's comments.
NBC military correspondent Jim Miklaszewski appeared on the MSNBC Andrea Mitchell show and reported that the Marines have strongly rejected Reid's comments. He went on to say one Marine official accused Reid of "pure political posturing on the backs of these dead marines."
In a statement prepared for News 4, Kristen Orthman, 0ommunications Director for Reid's Nevada operations wrote:
"In the wake of the Hawthorne tragedy, Senator Reid's thoughts are with the Marines who were killed or injured and their loved ones. The idea that Senator Reid thinks the Hawthorne tragedy has anything to do with the sequester is absurd and unsubstantiated by his remarks on the topic. Marines would not be forced to operate under unsafe conditions due to budget cuts."
See the difference? OP article is accusing him of it, MSNBC article is reporting that people are bitching about what he said, not that their bitching and moaning is accurate.
