That's a fair argument if you don't like Alex Smith but most draft analysts have Geno as a late first round talent at best, at least with Smith you know you're getting an NFL starter still on a decent contract. The Chiefs also still have their first round pick, so they got an established NFL player for a 2nd rounder instead of a player a lot of scouts aren't sold on for a first overall. They probably ended up having to pay more than they wanted to but Reid is in love with Alex so if you trust his judgment they got more with giving up less than they would with Geno, which is a smart move to fill the qb position. Of course if you think Geno is the next Aaron Rodgers or just want to draft any qb just to draft one of your own then you're not gonna care.
