His wife came from the pre-existing peoples on Earth, who's predecessors were all alive when Adam & Eve were created. The Bible doesn't ever say Adam & Eve were the first humans, only that they were created by God and placed in the Garden Of Eden and the start of Jesus' "royal lineage".
The Creationists that take the creation story literally and assume they were the first humans miss the part of the story you refer to: where the Bible clearly states Cain goes out "for fear of" the peoples of the Earth who he feels will try to kill him.
