Whether that prohibits the equal protection clause is another story, but I certainly don't think the federal government should be able to refuse to recognize homosexual unions. It's not really a federal question (i.e. DOMA should be ruled unConstitutional).
Leaving aside the equal protection part, I agree with all of this.
