So the corner kicks, why do they get to do those? I've caught a couple soccer games on TV kind of, and seems like they do that alot.

Depends on the style of play...in KC they attack a lot so it happens often.
Think of the possession rules in this instance similar to basketball...if your team is the last team to touch it then the other team gets the ball.
In soccer if the other team is the last team to touch the ball and it goes out the back of their end of the field and not the side you are awarded a corner kick. So say you shoot the ball and the goalie blocks it but it goes out of bounds it was last off of him so it is a corner kick for you.
This creates a dangerous situation for the defense if you want to limit goals you want to limit corner kicks you give up.
