Im super paranoid now about another catastrophic deal coming down the pipe. I cant imagine going through what we went through with a kid. The last 4-5 years damn near killed me from stress.
I would be paralyzed with fear if we had a kid; I would be paranoid beyond belief that the other shoe is about to drop etc.
Plus, I dont think Id want to be in my mid-40s when the kid is still in elementary school etc.
Tough call for sure. I can definitely see myself as a dad.

My wife and I just had our first in August after months of debate. I always said that I wanted to wait til we were "financially secure." My mother gave me the most eye-opening advice. She said "if you wait til you're financially secure you'll never have kids." She was right. I'm now 29 with a 7 month old and have enjoyed every minute of it. I know what you mean about the added stress, as well; I left AD military when he was 4 months, moved half way across the country and decided to make a complete career change. We've got a tiny 1 bedroom apt and I've never been happier. It sounds corny but my son doesn't give a shit about our finances and his smile and laugh make me forget about any shitty day I have. Best decision of my life.
