Then it looks like other folks are going through them trying to search for evidence similar to what the FBI released (backpacks, etc.) to the public.
Can't hurt, and I'm sure the authorities are thrilled to have a resource for people to submit photos that they otherwise wouldn't have received.

It the good side of big brother.
Watched a show about what are essentially video games being used to help scientists sequence chemical structures and uses masses of people to accomplish the unthinkable. Awesome stuff. Captcha is another great example of using humans and the net to decipher scans of books that computers can't read. And the red balloon hunt a few years ago...anyway, I'm rambling here but it's fascinating
