I really don't care what they say to justify a trade they made. There is no indication that they're discussing an extension with Alex Smith. And Chase Daniel's here on a 1-year contract.

If the Chiefs draft a QB who has upside to start (and not just be a career #3 guy), that is what I really want to know.
