Ya like the police state 'eh? Seriously, you sound like a bona-fide NeoCon right now. But we always knew this is what the left is really about deep down. You're in luck though...because more police state is coming. Our lives have changed for the worst in this country.

Always film the cops.
Most of this I can respond in pretty simple form: I didn't say it was citywide, it turns out he was a few blocks outside the search area but the police sure didn't know that at the time, oh good I'm being called a NeoCon now maybe it will balance out the people who think I'm Larry the Lefty, I don't think a police state is coming but I have no problem with our country having a healthy awareness or even fear of it, and yeah if you can it wouldn't hurt to film the police, etc., etc., etc. Okay, moving on, this is the sentence that really caught my eye.

This is really beside the point. This wasn't about guns at all, but about police hunting an violent escaped terrorist, and insisting that the problem was that the people of Watertown (a sleepy blue-state suburb, by the way, not exactly rural Texas) were somehow hamstrung by the oppressive Massachusetts gun regulations sounds an awful lot like a gun-rights proponent trying to force their message into a different conversation.

And what exactly do you think they should have done? You imply that if they hadn't been so callously "disarmed", they could have gone about their daily business as the horde of police were scouring the area. Do you really think that search would have ended better if the streets were packed with nervous, distraught, edgy, and armed citizens? Do you think that would have made it harder, or easier, for the police?

These guys were bombers, not shooters. No civilian firearm at the Marathon, or during the hunt, would have made this go more easily. So this time, the "everyone should have been armed" argument doesn't work, but we'll compare notes on how the absence or presence of guns affect the next mass shooting. You know there will be one, and the way things are going, it probably won't be too long a wait.
