Actually Dave that is how they catch ticks for study. Putting a block of dry ice on a blanket out in the open attracts a whole LOT of ticks to it. The dry ice must give of carbon dioxide and thats what prompts the ticks to action. When you walk thru tall grass and such the carbon dioxide that you breath out attracts them to you and they start grabbing for anything by instinct. So, yeah, its not a good idea for the dry ice.
